ROCK IMPROVISATION TARGET PRACTICE with Jon Finn and special guest Andy Timmons

Rock Improvisation Target Practice is a method developed by Jon Finn, which focuses on picking a note to “aim” for within a phrase. This allows the player to think more about conveying the feeling, and “telling the story.” In the course, Jon will present several chord progressions and suggest Target Note solutions, uses of scales and arpeggios and a variety of technical and artistic concepts. This course is meant for the intermediate to advanced player. Music reading ability is preferred but not required. Students in this course will enjoy a visit from rock great Andy Timmons.

Andy Timmons has sold over a million records worldwide as guitarist for pop-metal band Danger Danger. His discography includes 7 solo releases ranging from blazing guitar instrumentals, to blues, to pop. As a session player, he’s been featured on recordings by drumming legend Simon Phillips, Kip Winger, Paula Abdul, Paul Stanley, and countless radio and television jingles. Andy has been musical director/guitarist for several U.S. tours. He has also played alongside Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Mike Stern, Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, and Pierre Bensusan. He has become one of the most respected and sought after clinicians.
